Frequently Asked Questions
Are your classes suitable for all levels of ability?
Yes, my classes are suitable for all abilities. I offer different alternatives for postures meaning the children can choose what feels best for their body, working from a gentler practice to a more challenging one if they choose to do so.
Wherever possible, I will provide options to make their experience of my class as comfortable and safe as I can.
What equipment will our school need?
I provide all the equipment needed for my sessions. In order for yoga practice to become an ingrained part of your school, I would encourage yoga mats to be purchased, although crash mats can be used (I do also have ten yoga mats that I can bring with me). It would be a good idea for the children to bring their water bottles to the session and a jumper to cosy up in during relaxation at the end of the class.
What should the children wear?
Your school's PE kit or uniform is absolutely fine, although it would be a good idea for trousers to be worn on yoga class days rather than skirts. It is also a good idea for the children to wear layers in the colder months so they can regulate their temperature as they warm up and cool down. Yoga is generally practiced barefoot, although if a child would like to wear socks for warmth, it is a good idea for them to purchase some non-slip ones that they can change into.
How could yoga classes work in our school?
I could cover classes for PPA sessions or PE/PSHE lessons as yoga is covered by your school's Sports Premium funding. I also offer lunchtime and after school clubs.
There may be children at your school that could benefit from yoga as an intervention to help with self-regulation, anxiety, or low self-esteem for example.
