Hello, I’m Jayne.
I have been practicing yoga for a number of years and it is an integral part of my life. Yoga has supported me through many phases of my life, and I am keen to share the benefits and positivity it can bring.
I have always worked with children and have done so in many different ways. My early career started in a nursery setting as a practitioner before moving on to work within the Social Services as an outreach worker for vulnerable children. From there, I worked as a therapeutic care worker for children in residential care before embarking on a career in education. In 2005 I qualified as a primary school teacher and have been a classroom teacher in my local area for the last 18 years. In August 2022 I qualified as a children's yoga teacher and in October 2023 I qualified as a teen yoga teacher specialising in mental health. I now combine my love of teaching with yoga which I feel is such a privilege.
Through my teaching of yoga to children and young people, I provide an environment that offers them tools and equips them to head out into the big wide world. I don’t only focus on the physical postures in my yoga teaching, I focus on breath as a way of grounding and self regulating. In sharing yoga with children and young people, I provide them with a space to recognise and honour all the emotions they are feeling and teach them tools to deal with them. This includes difficult emotions such as anger, frustration, anxiety or depression. We focus on togetherness and freedom to express our thoughts and differences and within this, we celebrate diversity.
I am fully insured, first aid trained and have an enhanced DBS certification. I have also undertaken Safe Guarding training and have a qualification in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health.
